2011 is the new 1984: Police make the first known arrests of U.S. citizens using a Predator drone. by digitalvoidin occupywallstreet

I get what you're saying. If these guys are guilty they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law -- after a fair trial and judgment by their peers. The non-aggression principle (your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins) demands swift punishment for lawbreaking. Where I think the issue arises however is that drone technologies are being deployed by the state without any discussion or debate. If you notice, in the ND example, the local police are using Predator drones parked at an Air Force base. This is a clear violation of Posse Comitatus. Do we really want to establish a precedent of the U.S. military becoming involved (even in a tertiary way) with local police actions? That's a gigantic slippery slope if you ask me.

The Resilient Family » The key to wealth: Stop acting rich by LWRellimin Frugal

Hey there. I'm the guy who wrote the piece, so thought I'd clear up a few misconceptions. First, while we are in fact 5 people to a condo (2 adults, 3 children - brand new baby) I wouldn't characterize it as "tiny" and it's definitely high quality. It's over 2000 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and more than enough room. Believe it or not, we also have a full time live-in housekeeper who has her own room. I guess my point (maybe inelegantly stated) was that the McMansion lifestyle and all of the accoutrements of wealth didn't suit us, and we pretty radically downsized from that to a condo on a beautiful beach in Panama. As for the frayed shorts... What can I say. Clothes aren't my thing. I live on a beach, so most of the time I'm either in a pair of shorts or swim trunks with no shirt, no shoes. We DO spend money on nice things... I guess we just have a different definition of "nice."

Yes, but check out what citizens are doing in response. They're creating their OWN drones to fight back. http://www.theresilientfamily.com/2011/12/unmanned-drones-it-turns-out-we-can-spy-too/
