Agreed, I wouldn't sign a contract that limits the work I can do or pursue. If I ever thought about it, I'd expect far more compensation than I would normally receive for a project. I'm talking four or five times the value of the project.

Also, 8-10$ an hour? Are you hiring them on as an intern? I'm not sure what kind of talent you can expect for that value.

Honestly, if they don't resolve the issue with non-pirated software you should think about leaving. Its only a taste of the underlining issues with whats to come. If they're not able to afford the software they need there is something wrong financially.

I worked 1 day for a company like this, by the end of the day I could tell something was not right and gave my notice. Don't question that decision at all.

Honestly, the lawsuit is more of a scare tactic but any school should take it very seriously and it might help get things moving along to move the bully out of the school.
