What is the most computer illiterate thing you've witnessed? by Peppe22in AskReddit

[–]gbCerberus -1 points0 points ago

The modem was duct taped to the side of the monitor with nothing connecting it to the computer...except the tape.

They didn't say the modem wasn't plugged in (edit: to the phone or cable line) and powered, just that it wasn't connected plugged into the computer.

For a time, I considered sparing your wretched little planet, Earth. But now, you shall witness... its dismemberment.

Basically, why is there more matter than antimatter? Why weren't they produced in equal amounts? If they had been produced in equal amounts, they would have been annihilated equally, leaving nothing.

We are made of star stuff, yes. But that star stuff is a thin film of left over residue.

Carbon dating doesn't work on things that were never alive. And actually, doing radiometric dating on craters and other features would tell us a lot about the history of the planet and the Solar System.

Does it also cure virus? That would be pretty cool.

I'm not going to listen to you, you're too biased against asteroids.

Edit: But you're right. I tried searching for the crater's age and couldn't find any primary sources. Though, I did find this:

http://www.space.com/2987-red-planet-double-team-nasa-orbiter-spies-mars-rover-victoria-crater.html:

Early estimates pin Victoria Crater at somewhere between 10 million and 100 million years old, but the rocks within the depression themselves are likely much older - as in a few billion years in age, researchers said.

And, uh, this:

http://www.holoscience.com/news.php?article=8p6ud5jc:

There are many unresolved problems with the impact-cratering model, which led the Irish astronomer, Firsoff, to express his dislike of the theory. However, no one has considered a better theory, electrical cratering…

We couldn't release this one as a patch. There were not only changes to the patcher itself, but also so many files were revised we thought it best to just have a full release up again.

On inconvenience: I really think you're making mountains out of mole-hills.

Kind of relevant. Dan Carlin has a great Hardcore History episode on the morality of dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan and what he calls "logical insanity."
