Something very similar happened to me the other day, I was running a 3/10 complex in a .5 and some guy in a cerb jumps in and starts to shoot me. I guess he forgot he was in high sec because he died pretty quickly.

a fried motherboard and/or broken screen are the two fastest ways to get a new one, there is a clause in the warranty that says they HAVE to try to fix it 3 times before you get a new one so don't be surprised if you're without it for a while.

semi confirm. we would install anti-virus/anti-spyware software with the intention of getting more money, but it wasn't really bloatware(most of the time).

we've had broken stuff returned pretty often, though I would imagine it's about the same rate as any other retailer as we just unload the boxes off a truck and put the stuff on the shelves so it's the same video card/printer/laptop you would buy anywhere else.

I don't trust customers to get it right, but you would be surprised at home many problems that solves. We didn't do much phone support, just if you brought it in. And even then we had a remote support tool that would connect your computer to someone in India or South America to remove viruses and fix registry issues so the in store techs could focus on selling useless protection plans.

None at all, there is a basic knowledge test you have to pass to get hired, but its very limited in what it covers. Most of the new people they hired had almost no technical knowledge at all. I've even seen people get hired because the hiring manager though they were cute/hot. They used to pay more for certs but now they don't even do that anymore.

Yeah that happened a lot, plenty of porn and naked pics, I even found some folders titled like child porn and had to call the cops. It turned out to be regular porn though. On several occasions we would tell customers that their viruses were most likely from porn and the dad would immediately start yelling at his son.

Most of the guys I worked with were pretty good with computers so not as often as you would think, I can see how this would happen very often in Geek Squad as they had little to no training in place for employees. I was lucky enough to work with other people who were pretty tech savvy most of the time.

Hated it, white socks were part of the uniform. They provided everything but my underwear. I would wear my own clothes and try to look a little more professional. They were going for the "geeky" look so pants and ties were supposed to be too short but I tried to hold on to my dignity a little.

Almost everything did, virus removals, hardware replacements, software installation, databackups. They tried to make it easy enough to hire someone with little to no technical experience.

There were numerous times when people would bring a computer in saying it had a problem with a program or web browser and we would be unable to duplicate it so we would just send them home, as far as the easiest repair it was probably similar things like plugging in loose cables.
