There is also the need to maintain and expand our infrastructure to keep the US competitive in the world market, which is pretty much the antithesis of what the Tea Party wants. Anytime you use a stone you are taking metal off of your knife. The same with electric sharpeners. Ceramics, on the other hand, do not take off metal, they hone the knife. They straighten the finest part of the edge back into alignment. Use sharpeners VERY sparingly, like once a year. The rest of the time use a hone, either ceramic, or steel. That is all you need unless your knife is a piece of shit.

Those tropical storms can fool you. I remember TS Alison that kept circling Houston some years ago. It ended up dropping better than 3 foot of rain in a week.
