Koreans Fighting for Restrictions on US Beef Imports by HeisenbergUncertin vegan

[–]HeisenbergUncert[S] 0 points1 point ago

For me, the most interesting part of the editorial was this

To elaborate on one study, Laura Manuelidis, chief of surgery of the Neuropathology Department of Yale University in 1989 study found 13 percent of U.S. Alzheimer's patients really had CJD. Several studies including hers found autopsies that showed 3 to 13 percent of patients falsely diagnosed with Alzheimer's or dementia really suffered >from CJD

Problem is you've got nothin' to trade. Well, unless you want to tell us about the life of a "social engineer"

Show me some posts of yours that support vegan eating. I'm just not seeing them TheImpetuous.

Presenting four false dichotomies tells me you know that it is a conflict of interest, but why oh why TheImpetuous are you consistently running through the forum advocating people eat poison? Are you here in a professional capacity? It appears from your posts that that is the case.

If you are earning a living by treating an illness that wouldn't exist but for flawed diet, it is a conflict of interest for you to be handing out diet advice.

Do you know it is defined by those certifications, as well as the society which coined and defines the term, globally?

Nope. Nor do I care. If the majority of english speakers interpret veganism as one who doesn't eat animal products, then that is the meaning of the word. Those who would have it otherwise should spend more on marketing.

I believe I said "I play devil's advocate and somehow that leads to assumptions about how I feel.

I don't see you over at keto playing devils advocate. Why is that?

Veganism is following an indoctrinated lifestyle in which you avoid the exploitation of animals

That's your interpretation. You are not the grand pubah of vegans.

Saying the rest of the world is wrong because they can do otherwise is none of our business and it is not our place to judge.

But judging their reasons for being vegan is?

but this does not mean 'the only way to good health with many of these conditions is through veganism'.

For some it may be. It's not your place to judge, just as it isn't your place to judge omnis.

Vegetarianism, but not veganism. Forks over knives is pretty hard on dairy consumers. I guess we're getting to the "meat" of the issue. You might enjoy - or least learn something - from "How to magnitize a baby."

I trust people to do their own research and deliver their own views. I don't want the Buddha's interpretation of Christianity, nor Hitler's take on Civil Rights. No one wants the strap on when they can get the real deal with a few clicks.

You seem to object to people turning vegan for health reasons. Why is that?

I just watched "Forks over Knives". I'm a total meat lover. My parents have high cholesterol and high blood pressure. We are going vegan cold turkey. Wish us luck. by hedwigianin vegan

I want people to choose veganism for the right reasons

Meaning your reasons.

I think fish, maybe once or twice a week?, is healthy.

I think fish is the highest source of B12 and, if artificially created B12 was not available, that would be my choice. Luckly for me I live in a world where that isn't necessary.

But I take issue with someone who feels that his/her reasons are the only good reasons for not eating animals. If you really care about these animals, wouldn't you welcome ANY reason for veganism?

What a strange position for a "strict vegan." If you object to people being vegan unless they share your motivations, can you really call that ethical?

Hey r/frugal, where is the cheapest place to buy a mattress and a bed frame? by rememberesein Frugal

[–]HeisenbergUncert 0 points1 point ago

I had a friend who found a mattress factory in his area - visited them in the evening and negotiated with the production guys for an over run. He paid $180 and it was delivered. Granted, we live in a large metro area and he is a gifted salesman, but I thought finding a factory was a great idea.

I think you might like "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time." or maybe "The Poisonwood Bible." both of those are a mixture of funny and tragic.

I'm not a vegan, but I have some questions I'd like to ask y'all. by TuckerTheCatin vegan

[–]HeisenbergUncert 1 point2 points ago

Regarding your question on invertebrates and fish, if circumstances were such that I could not get B12 in an artificial form, I would eat clams. One large clam is 165% of your RDA for B12. Incidentally, your body can store B12 in your liver, so you could eat some mollusks one day a week and be good.

I don't think most of the medical industry is going to be an ally. The sickness associated with eating meat and dairy is a multi billion dollar industry.

Get your Dad a copy of forks over knives and watch it with him.

Or download the McDougall lecture "President Clinton—You Should Not Have Agreed to Heart Surgery" (the mp3 is $3) and listen with him.
